Grant will enable district to expand after-school gardening

As part of its 21st Century Grant after- school program, Benson School District offers students a gardening component, where kids have an opportunity to raise vegetables and other plants while incorporating hands-on activities, team work and enjoying the outdoors.

While gardening has been in place for awhile now, the district has been able to expand the program through a Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant of $4,205. The additional funds will be used for a rain water harvesting system, green houses, grow lights, containers and preparing an area for the garden. [Read the complete story at]
